Conversations with a native British English speaker to practise your spoken language.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
What kind of English do you speak?
I grew up in South West England so I speak British English, and I have a standard southern British accent.
What will we talk about?
You choose the topics you want (or need) to talk about. Think about what you enjoy talking about, and the things you need to say in English. What topics and types of language do you want to practise? Maybe:
- exam topics
- holiday/travel English
- informal language or professional language
- academic or medical vocabulary
- or just a chat
I need to practise talking about specific topics for exams or work. Is that ok?
Yes, that's ok. You choose what we talk about. This means that you can practise the vocabulary and topics you need for your life (or exams).
I have to do a presentation in English. Can you listen to it and give me feedback?
Yes, that's a great idea. I can give you guidance about grammar, pronunciation, word choice, and how to get your message across to your audience.
I can't speak English very well. Is that ok?
Yes, of course. Sessions with a conversation partner are a good way to practise speaking in a friendly and safe environment. Every time you talk you will get a bit more confident and a bit more fluent.
When and where are the sessions? How long are they and how much do they cost?
Skype or Zoom sessions can take place at a time that is convenient for you between 9am and 8pm GMT (or BST in summer), 7 days a week. Face to face sessions take place in Yeovil, Somerset between 9:30 and 5pm, 7 days a week. Sessions cost £5 for every 20 minutes, please let me know in advance how long you would like to talk for.
